Canberra’s nickname is the “bush capital”. Not only are farms , sheep, cattle and vineyards close by but the native wildlife abounds particularly on our golf courses. Often when you play you will be watch by a gallery of kangaroos or some raucous sulphur crested cockatoos. Be warned the kangaroos are wild animals and they have sharp claws. They are not tame enough for patting but at some courses they are so relaxed about golfers, that you can walk right through the mob as it grazes.
It is one of the distinctive feature about playing golf in Canberra. A major Australian city and capital of the country but you can feel a world away from it on the course.
